We had tickets to go see a band called String Cheese Incident that my husband really likes, and I can get on board with their grooviness too. Plus the show was at the very best venue to see such shows, Red Rocks Ampitheater. The best place unless it is raining, course. We got there a couple hours early in true summer concert spirit in order to enjoy the parking lot a bit. And don our rain gear.
Eric is very excited to be drinking a New Glarus beer, driven back from WI by a couple of our friends.
Hooray for hoods and umbrellas, my hair still looks pretty good at this point.
Since there is a statewide fire ban and, well, it was raining, our tailgating really just consisted of pre-show drinks as we couldn't grill out :( But good friends and good beer made it worthwhile. Then it was time to make the hike to the gate. The good thing about Red Rocks is that you are forced to get some cardio in if you want to go to the show. Here are some shots of our journey.
This is kind of out of order, but Shawn (desert camo rainsuit on the left) was our savior that day. He whipped out the banana suit when Amy forgot her raincoat and then produced a spare pair of sandals later in the night when Eric blew out a flip flop. Thanks Shawn!!
About this time I was cursing my flip flops, though grateful that I didn't have wet socks. |

We all made it! |
The band played a high energy show with lots of great lights. We all danced out tooshes off (especially since your toosh would get even wetter if you sat down!) and had a great time.
Still in good spirits at the end of the night, and wet.
Did I mention it was raining? Well, my pants were still wet the next morning in case I needed reminding. Thanks String Cheese for making the best of it, I know we have never been happier to spend the evening getting rained on.
Did Eric lose his razor? :)
ReplyDeleteWe too had an Illinois gullywasher, compleate w thunder (yay!). What fun breaking camp this morning. On to Drumheller today - Jasper too wet.
